Türkiye 90 days in 180: check the rule that applies to you
Türkiye’s Migration Management authority states a maximum of 90 days within 180 days for visa-based stays, but the applicable permission varies by nationality, passport type, purpose and status. Some travellers have shorter limits or require a visa, and valid residence or work permission follows a different legal basis.
Check the passport-specific rule first
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs table contains materially different rules: some entries say 90 days in any 180-day period, while others set 30-day limits, require visas or distinguish ordinary and official passports. Use the row for the passport, nationality and travel purpose you will actually use.
Use a rolling planning window carefully
Where 90 in 180 applies, do not reset the total on 1 January or after a short trip abroad. Review the relevant 180-day period for each intended day and total the Türkiye days inside it. The reviewed English sources do not establish one universal arrival/departure-day convention, so close calls require authority confirmation.
- A visa validity period is not the same as permitted days of stay.
- Do not treat a planning estimate as an immigration determination.
- Longer stays require an appropriate legal basis; a residence-permit application is not guaranteed approval.
Status changes the calculation
Valid residence- or work-permit holders are not simply using a visitor allowance. Keep permit periods separate from visa or visa-exempt visits and check current Migration Management guidance before travel.
